Dugong Beach

Popular with local residents, this is a suitable campsite for larger groups, with a good sandy beach backed by rainforest. A 1km walking track connects this beach with Sawmill Beach.

The campground is located in a dry rainforest setting and is well shaded from sunlight. There is an enjoyable dry rainforest walk connecting Dugong Beach campground to Sawmill Beach campground, which displays the visual attributes and ecology of such as system.

Dugong Beach is sheltered from southeast winds and provides good access for smaller vessels at mid to high tide, due to mud flats being exposed at low tide. Cid Harbour provides excellent anchorage for larger vessels, which may then use their tenders to access the beach. A cruise ship anchorage is located within the bay and therefore, the beach areas in Cid Harbour may be intermittently visited by very large groups.

Dugong Beach however, is usually quite peacefull and visits by the local wallabies and Goannas is common throughout the day when your siting quietly.

A short bushwalk through the rainforest meanders it's way to Sawmill Beach where there is also a camp site. You'll get nice views of Cid Harbour from there.
